Being our first night in a strange bed on Thursday night, and one that is somewhat firmer than we prefer, we both had a slightly uncomfortable night, but last night we both slept like logs, to the extent that Elaine didn’t even get up once; unheard of!

Yesterday morning, however, we were both up early; Roy because he wanted to get the decks washed after the pressure wash that had been done on Thursday, as well as stow all the fenders and docklines before the workmen arrived. On the other hand, Elaine was up early purely because her body couldn’t stand another minute on the firm mattress.

With an entire day ahead of us and without any yacht projects to do, Roy enjoyed a well deserved rest, napping on the sofa, reading, getting his paperwork up to date, etc, while Elaine continued work on our next video.

Our day was broken up with a morning tea and a freshly baked French pastry at Dean and Deluca and a late afternoon walk over to the boatyard to check on progress. We were definitely surprised to find that three-quarters of the wet sanding had been completed.

Sundowners were enjoyed on our patio while listening to the live music from one of the local establishments reverberating around the marina; there’s nothing like the sound of a saxophone to listen to as the sun dips below the horizon.

Dinner at “home” and a phone call from Craig off Il Sogno, who is still in Malaysia, wrapped up our very relaxing day.

This morning we enjoyed a sleep-in, but unfortunately we’d left it a little too late to enjoy breakfast on the patio; the heat of the day had already set in. The alternative of breakfast in the comfort of our air-conditioned abode was far more appealing!

Afterwards, Roy headed to the boatyard to check on how our batteries were coping, given the cloudy day yesterday, but turned back when he spotted about 8 workmen all busy around Paw Paw; some continuing the wet sanding efforts and others busy with the gel coat repairs on the bows. There were just too many people around for his liking. The good news, however, is that work is progressing much faster than we expected.

Although the apartment is serviced, for obvious reasons, we decided not to use this service. So, once Elaine had tidied up, she continued her efforts on compiling our latest video.

This evening’s inspection of Paw Paw revealed that the wet sanding as well as the gel coat repairs are finished and the batteries were doing alright with the solar power. Roy then removed the saildrive and propellers zinc anodes in preparation for work commencing on them next week.

Being a Saturday evening we opted to eat out, although initially we had preferred a takeaway from the little roadside stall we had lunch at the other day or, on recommendation from Craig, to get a rotisserie chicken from a different vendor further up the main street, but unfortunately, Roy was too early for the latter and the former was closing until Monday morning. As a result, we settled for another lovely meal at the Italian restaurant, La Taverna. The evening rain shower, which cooled everything down, made for a lovely stroll back to the apartment and, with that, our day in Boat Lagoon Resort and Marina came to a close.
